Blizzard Lighting Rocks Summerfest® with Video Wall Installations

Nearly 600 LED Video Panels Installed at the World’s Largest Music Festival®

Waukesha, Wis. (June 25, 2019) – Blizzard Lighting is excited to announce that the company is a sponsor of Summerfest®, the World’s Largest Music Festival, providing nearly 600 LED video panels throughout the festival grounds in 2019 and 2020.

Set across 75 acres on Milwaukee’s Lakefront, Summerfest annually hosts more than 800 bands and musicians, and almost one million festival goers over 11 days. In addition to live entertainment, the festival features food, rides, retail, and a whole bunch more. It’s the World’s Largest Music Festival for a reason.

The new video walls and panels at Summerfest are designed to enrich the overall festival experience, allowing for a more immersive and intimate experience for concertgoers. Additionally, information such as daily schedules or event information can be quickly and easily updated and shared across the grounds.

Blizzard’s permanent installations at Summerfest will include seven video walls, along with over 1,500 square feet of LED panels that will be configured for use at various stages throughout the festival in 2019.

Video walls will be featured at:

  • The Uline Stage – A permanent 60-panel, 16-foot by 9-foot display
  • The American Family Insurance Amphitheater – Four 60-panel video walls located near the back of the amphitheater, as well as two 140-panel, 28-foot walls on both sides of the stage

Custom, moveable panels include:

  • Over 1,500 square feet of panels to be used at various stages throughout the festival as needed
  • Screens across the grounds, featured on the BMO Harris Pavilion, Harley-Davidson Roadhouse, and Miller Lite Oasis

To offer maximum flexibility, the Blizzard team selected IRiS™ IP3 outdoor-rated modular LED video panels, which have an impressive 3.9mm pixel pitch, 3,840Hz refresh rate and 4000:1 contrast ratio. The panels are designed to perform in all types of weather, which was a priority when designing an installation for an outdoor festival like Summerfest. IRiS™ IP3 is an ETL-listed, professional IP65 rated video panel with brilliant SMD 1921 LEDs and 4,500-nit brightness, which can create perfect video images, even in direct sunlight.


Additionally, as the needs of the festival change over time, the IRiS™ IP3 panels are scalable and flexible – making it possible for Blizzard to reconfigure them for future use.
